Movie Review:
With Yaaradi Nee Mohini hitting the screens, Dhanush is now gearing up for his next film. Title: Padikadhavan. The film's first still was released yesterday amidst much curiosity among is fans. Though titled as such, the photograph depicts Dhanush as a highly educated intellectual. We need to wait for a while to know what it is all about. Tamanna plays Dhanush's on-screen pair.
The title, of course, is that of a yesteryear Rajini hit, which also starred Sivaji Ganesan. According to Kollywood circles, sentiment plays a pivotal role in titling Dhanush's films. If you recall, his Thiruvilayadal Aarambam, became a smash hit. Incidentally, Sivaji played the lead role in Thiruvilayadal a few decades ago. More recently, his film Polladhavan, another Rajini hit, also sent the cash registers ticking away to glory. Perhaps, this time too, the producers want to cash in on this newfound sentiment.

'A, Aa, E, Ee' produced by AVM Studios is a tale of two loves tested to the hilt by social constrains and of course some serious lapses in communication. The film has a backdrop that probably has the potential to relate with audiences. Two rich folks in a village with off springs of marriageable ages and a melodrama with the zest for pure love ensue.
Tangled love and the efficacies of truth echo with the youth associated in this film. The lead roles are enacted by Navdeep, Arvind, Monica and Saranya Mohan. Which couple among these are the real lovers? This is a major suspense element in the film.
The film's title 'A AA E EE' depicts the first four letters of the Tamil alphabet. The makers of this film even go on to say that these letters depict all of life in its entirety.
Prabhu plays a vital role in the film and he had even gone on to say that he performed a challenging role after a while and that had made him very happy. World Record holder for maximum number of films Manorama also features in the film. Interestingly comedian Kanja Karuppu has been paired with an Australian damsel named Juliet. Something Kanja Karuppu would not forget in a hurry. VMC Hanifa known for hilarious comic performances plays a prominent role in the film.
The producers of the film AVM Kumaran and AVM K. Shanmugam are of the opinion that 'A AA E EE' would go on to be compared with some of the studio's earlier hits like 'Kathalikka Neramillai' and 'Ooty Varai Uravu'.
The film has been shot with a rustic backdrop where one would expect to witness villagers caught between evils of society such as caste, creed and religious enmity. But this film toes a different line depicting a totally peaceful, beautiful village.
'A AA E EE' was shot in picturesque locations like Thenkasi, Kuttralam, Ambasamudram, Manimutharu, Karaikudi, Thirumayam, and Salem in Tamilnadu and in Kerala's Challagudi.
Story and screenplay have been penned by Krishna Vamsi and the film is directed by Sabapathy Dhatchanamoorthy.

Movie Review
After watching Bommalattam, Bharathiraja's bilingual venture, one cannot help being overawed by the excellence of Nana Patekar – easily one of the best actors India has ever produced. Designed as a film within a film the movie explores the quintessential life of a talented film director viewed as an eccentric from time to time.
Bharathiraja is a name known for bringing rural India to life with scripts that are highly metaphorical in nature. The director who had also rendered an exquisite film noir in 'Sigappu Rojakkal' decades ago is back with a film that treads along the lines of murder under vicious circumstances.
The fallacies of a world that fails to recognize creative angst has been captured on celluloid rather effectively. Arjun plays a CBI officer (Vivek) thirsting after the truth while Rukmini Vijayakumar plays the heroine of the film that is shot by Rana (Nana Patekar).
The life of Rana (at the work place and at home) is shrouded by his eccentric nature that keeps all people around him not knowing what to expect….and yet a girl (Kajal Agarwal) who has a penchant for poetry admires him for his creative genius. From Rana's viewpoint she comes across as a breath of fresh air who even succeeds in revealing a pleasant side.
Filmmaking is tough work with provocation coming in as distraction all the time. This obviously irritates Rana….to boot there are dead bodies that are discovered. The CBI investigates the film director on suspicion of multiple murders. Flashes of the director's life are showcased and the audience do get engulfed with the suspense element from time to time.
Why does the director have such an affinity for his heroine? How can a man who loses his temper at the drop of a hat be calm and even sweet to some people? Who is responsible for the murders? These are the questions that are answered as the film unfolds.
Comic relief is provided by Vivek and Manivannan. Although funny at times their interludes derail the intensity of the story big time. Compared to the brilliance of Nana Patekar, every other actor appears ordinary except Rukmini Vijayakumar who has done justice to her role.
Cinematography is brilliant and the background score is passable. None of the songs impress. Though nowhere in the vicinity of Sigappu Rojakkal's brilliance, Bommalattam does succeed in arresting audiences' attentions during a major twist in the story which in actuality is the very crux of the film.
Nana Patekar's brilliance has been watered down considerably with an inappropriate voice (Nizhalgal Ravi). The Bommalattam think-tank could have had second thoughts on this and probably introduced a voice that goes with the intensity of the lead character............

Dil Kabaddi Movie Review:

Caught in the web of Post-Marital boredom and the irresistible temptation of lurking out if the relationship for some fun, Dil Kabaddi tackles the journey of two modern day couples in urban India, Samit and Mita & Rishi and Simi.

While Samit is indeed proud of his philandering and thoroughly enjoys the adventure and experimentation, Mita is at receiving end of his adulterous ways. His pride along with her suffering defines their relationship. On the other hand, as Rishi tries really hard to walk that extra mile and get rid of his monogamy, Simi struggles to decide whether she is really cut out for something outside of marriage or not. His desperation coupled with her confusion, decide the dynamics of this relationship.

As the four saddle their Way on the marital marathon, they come across Kaya, who spices up the goings-on between Samit and Mita; Raga, who gives Rishi the motivation to take the next step; and Veer who ends up for a short stint with Mita, and becomes the sole reason for Simi’s confusion.How the quartet handles these complex sensitive matters of the heart, and how they solve the never ending quests which their hearts put them through, with some ending up with a broken heart, is essentially the crux of the plot of Dil Kabbadi.

Vichu (silambarasan) is a priest in a temple at Kumboknam. Brought up by his uncle (Nedumudi Venu), he leads a happy and contended life and for him the temple and the Goddess is everything. Janu (Saana Khan), Who lives in the same town, falls for Vichu’s innocence. Swaminathan (santhanam), Venkatesh (Manobala) and his wife Pattu Mami (Nirosha) admire Vichu a lot. Vichu had a bad past known only to his grand father. Suddenly, in a twist enters Muthuvel (Prabhu). He gets released from jail and gets shocked on seeing Vichu. Flashback reveals that Vichu is the son of Muthuvel’s brother Thamizh (Silambarasan), who falls in love with a Brahmin girl Gayathri (Sneha), daughter of (Nedumudi Venu). Thamizh champions the cause of the village against baddies (Ponvannan, Raghav and Harris). Rathnam bumps off Thamizh’s family and eventually Gayathri dies delivering a baby which grows up to become Vichu. How Vichu comes knows his past and avenge the killers of his family is the rest of the movie....................

Sakthi is happy to be part of the movie. He says, “After ‘Thottal Poo Malarum’, I had several scripts coming my way. However I was very choosy and wanted my next to be more youthful and enterprising. When Ravi narrated the story, I was so impressed that I readily agreed to do it”.Ravi has written the story, screenplay and dialogues too for the film. Arjun is known for his 'mass hero' themes and Robinhood kind of films. So are the movies churned out by director Perarasu. What when the two come together? A racy entertainer loaded with punch dialogue and stunts. So is ‘Thiruvannamalai’. However the movie seems to be a rehash of several films of the past including few movies of Perarasu.
A youth fighting against injustice in the society is what all films of Perarasu talk about. No different is his ‘Thiruvannamalai’, where the peppy songs, numerous stunt sequences and cameo by Perarasu, all find a place.
Arjun plays a good samaritan, who runs a cable channel in Kumbakonam. He is the centre around which the whole plot revolves. He dances, tries his hand at comedy and flexes his muscles. Donning a dual role, he is right there in almost every frame.
Pooja Gandhi, who acted opposite Karan in ‘Kokki’, is back to play a typical Tamil heroine. Running mad behind the hero in romance and shake her leg in skimpy costume for a couple of songs. The villain Sai Kumar as corrupt politician is too loud. There are scores of other artistes including Karunaas, Periyar Dasan among others

Movie Review:
"Thenavattu" (chutzpah) is a tale strictly for the brain dead. For the second time in a little over two months Sun Pictures have come up with a film that seems sillier than their controversial maiden venture. Director V.V Kathir has filched a few scenes from earlier hits without any sense whatsoever, with ridiculous results.
The film is all about a rustic blacksmith Kootai (Jeeva) who makes sickles for a living.
For no apparent reason, the protagonist lands up in Chennai with a sidekick (Ganja Karuppu) in tow to manufacture the deadly weapons for a gangster Kailasam (Ravi Kale).
Suddenly a buxom belle Gayathri (Poonam Bajwa), a music teacher, enters the scene and promptly falls in love with the sickle-maker.
Soon, there are others - an assorted bunch of politicians, cops and others who drag the story towards a climax wherein the gangster's son molests Gayathri resulting in a vendetta.
The senseless storyline makes one wonder how Jeeva, who has been doing only offbeat sensible films, accepted this assignment.

Siddharth Mathur, a shy young scientist, travels to Mauritius for his elder brother Harsh's wedding. Movie Review:

After Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic , the tortuous God Tussi Great Ho and the hellish Hello , Oh, My God!! is yet another tale of divine intervention in the life of a protagonist who prays to God but doesn’t want His help at the cost of his morals.Vinay Pathak plays Rajendra Dubey, a salesman with big dreams of becoming another Ambani someday. He has many money-making schemes that no one seems interested in. His wife ( Divya Dutta ) prays to the almighty for help. And lo and behold, God ( Saurabh Shukla ), dressed in all white, comes down himself to hand over bags of money to Dubey and also munch on some fast food and confectionary during His earthly sojourn.

Despite God’s repeated attempts to help him, Dubey, the simpleton with firm values, fails to see the cues. Finally, when wads of money are thrust upon Dubey, the man feels pangs of conscience.With its honest, holier-than-thou protagonist, ‘Oh My God’ tries to drive home a good moral message that gets diluted in the morass of its plot-holes. The sequences in which God keeps reappearing before Dubey in different avatars get repetitive after some time.

Though Pathak plays his part with conviction, you notice that the actor stands a serious risk of getting typecast in guy-next-door kind of roles. Sourabh Shukla provides some comic relief as the God that pampers his taste buds. Divya Dutta is brilliant as Dubey’s supportive wife.All in all, a ho-hum film that could be avoided even if the ticket is God-sent.

Movie Review:
Meerabai Not Out has few of its innings to its favor. The simple family comic drama appeals in most ways except for some parts where it’s a little far-fetched. Like the TV coverage for a group of 11 shouting slogans for Anil being dropped out of a match and why has she to watch every match in the stadium, especially even if it falls on the same day of her engagement? The love story between Meera and Arjun (Eijaz Khan) is not like the present dating type but it makes sense.
The movie has an irregular pace and mostly very slow. The music too isn’t attractive and moreover the script provides no much scope for it. Not even one track is worth a mention. Dialogues are well written, interesting and comical. When it comes to performance, Mandira takes the first seat.
Mandira covered up from head to toe in a quirky girl next door image is a revelation. She pulls the act with ease and skillfully unfolds a range of emotions.Eijaz Khan does well. He has the perfect look and the buoyancy but needs the right man to steer his talent.
Mahesh Manjrekar as the serious and responsible earning member of the family is wonderful. Anupam Kher as the friendly daddy is good as usual. Anil Kumble, the puzzled cricket star about his frequent hiccups, is okay.
Overall, Meerabai Not Out is good with few of the innings to its favor. At the box-office, a lot depends on word-of-mouth! Also, the movie might take a hit with audiences not over the grief and pain of the Mumbai terror.

Sathyanathan hopes that his sons would help him build his dream house on the newly purchased plot. Uppili applies for a US visa and decides to go for a name change. Gumnaam - The Mystery is the story of an aspiring actress Ria (Mahima Chaudhary) who models / acts in music videos but has her eyes set on making it big in films as a lead actress. During one of her shoots, she happens to meet Dev (Dino Morea) a stuntman by profession, who saves her life during an accident on the set. She's impressed with him, soon love blossoms between them and they are on a romantic high.
Meanwhile Ria is offered a lead actress' role in a film by casting director Rishi Gandhi (Madan) but the condition is that she has to leave for Shimla the very next day. Dev is very happy about her getting the role in the film and sees her off, wishing all the luck. On reaching Shimla, she is introduced to the film's director Muni Gandhi (Govind Namdeo) who also praises her beauty and appreciates his assistant's perfect choice of casting her as the heroine.
Slowly Ria begins to see some unusual mystery around her. The director asks her to give a screen test but when she asks for a second take she is refused. His assistant Rishi Gandhi delivers the cassette to Remon (Suman Ranganathan) a rich female staring in a huge mansion in Shimla. Who is this woman and why the cassette has been delivered to her? What happens after the screen test? How Ria tackles the situation and what's she doing in Shimla? All this forms the crux of the story of the high voltage drama Gumnaam- The Mystery...............

Story Description:

Gautham Subramanyiam (Ravi) is a well educated, handsome hunk of a Doctor family. Since, his father and mother are doctors; Gautham aims to become a doctor and achieves it. Gautham gets a golden opportunity to go to Russia to represent India in a week long doctor’s conference.
Gautham is delighted to receive this offer and packs his bags to fly to Russia. Meanwhile, Gautham’s beloved is introduced on the frame which happens to be Shenba (Kangana). Shenba happens to be the same village girl in which his sister resides and so they two meet and fall in love. Gautham’s parents agree to the marriage and as a happy man Gautham is ready to marry Shenba after his return to India from his Russia trip.
Finally, the journey to Russia happens and the hero reaches Moscow and completes his immigration procedures. Incidentally, Gautham meets Anna (Maria) and unknowingly the sexy lady drops her jacket at the hero. In a quickie situation the hero has no time to return the jacket and exits from the Moscow airport accompanied by his medical team.Gautham is flabbergasted by the roads and buildings of the city and is surprised to see the city of Moscow from his hotel view. Gautham learns that the only hiccup with RussiansIs that the people are ignorant about the English language and the whole conversation with them must be made in Russian national language.
The rest of the story revolves around how the hero is proved t be innocent? Who killed Maria and for what cause. A mix of Chases, death experiences, conspiracies and many more are the ingredients form the climax of the movie.
